I’m sure you’ve come across a million sales pages in your lifetime.
There are three possible reactions to a sales page:
- “Heck yes! Right now! Take my money! I NEED THIS!! Also, I LOVE YOU!”
- “This seems like it may be helpful, I’ll put it on the back burner and try to come back to it later.”
- “Um, what is this? I don’t understand what is going on here…I’m going back to keep scrolling”
Now, let’s talk about all of these responses in reverse order.
“Um, what is this? I don’t understand what is going on here…I’m going back to keep scrolling”
Here, what has happened is a business owner, product developer or service provider was too into their own head when creating the sales page. 9 times out of 10, they are doing what is known in the industry as “feature dumping”. What that means is they are sharing all of the things they threw in to creating this service or product and not really what it means to someone.
Along side that, they probably didn’t follow any sort of template to lay out the page and just have massive amounts of copy with no clear call to action except to “buy now” somewhere near the bottom…which…let’s face it…lots of people probably didn’t even make it all the way down there…
“This seems like it may be helpful, I’ll put it on the back burner and try to come back to it later.”
So, this one is half way there, but still not hitting the mark. This business owner probably has some good benefits or takeaways on their page. Explaining to people what they will get from purchasing the product or service. What it REALLY means to them.
Where they are most likely lacking is that extra push to show someone this is really for them, and will for certain solve their problem.
“Heck yes! Right now! Take my money! I NEED THIS!! Also, I LOVE YOU!”
This person has KNOCKED it OUT OF THE PARK! They did #allofthethings right! Let’s be real, they probably have taken our course on how to create a money magnet sales page, right?
They showed the reader that they know what they need, and better yet, can deliver! Then, gave supporting information that will solidify that buying decision.
This stuff isn’t rocket science, but there definitely is an equation to making a highly converting sales page.
